Choosing where to stay

Why stay in Cagnes-sur-Mer instead of Nice, Antibes or Cannes?

Many guests compare city stays before booking. A hillside villa base trades nightlife on your doorstep for space, a pool and easier parking — while still reaching the coast's headline towns in under 35 minutes (off-peak).

Nice Antibes Cannes Cagnes + Villa Augflor
Evening calm Busy promenade Livelier port area Smart, touristy Residential hillside, pool evenings
Parking Often difficult Moderate in old town Expensive near Croisette Private parking at the villa
Family space Apartments, less garden Varies by rental Hotels dominate Garden, pool, 3 bedrooms
Reach the whole coast Eastbound easy; west via traffic Good for west; east slower Far from Monaco / Menton Central — Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Monaco
From villa / base 19 min drive 20 min drive 27 min drive Home — 6 min to beach

Summer traffic & parking

What locals know about July and August.

The A8 and coastal roads slow significantly on summer Saturdays (changeover day) and on Sunday afternoons. Village parking fills by mid-morning — Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Èze and Cap d'Antibes are the toughest. Trains are often faster than driving to Nice, Monaco and Cannes in peak season. Beach clubs and popular restaurants need reservations a week or more ahead in August.

Our tip: Leave early, plan pool afternoons on the hottest days, and use the train for eastbound coastal trips whenever you can.

Getting there & around

Car-free or chauffeured — your choice.

From Nice Airport

13 minutes by car via the A8. Private airport transfer on request. Car rental at the airport is recommended if you want full freedom to explore the region.

Free shuttle to Haut-de-Cagnes

Line 44 (navette gratuite) from Square Bourdet, every 20 minutes, climbs straight to the medieval village — skip the parking entirely.

Concierge & chauffeured days

Wine-estate tours, yacht charters, Monaco and Saint-Tropez days can all be arranged with a private driver, so no one has to drive. Just ask on WhatsApp →
